Minister of Education Azzam Al-Dakhil Inspects KSU Projects
Saudi Arabia, Minister of Education Azzam Al-Dakhil visited King Saud University on March 14, 2015.
During his visit to KSU, the Minister Al-Dakhil, looked at ways of enhancing the universities' efforts to align its output of graduate expertise with the local job market.
Minister Al-Dakhil addressed a meeting with KSU Rector Al-Omar, vice Rectors and Deans. Where he was briefed on the experience of KSU's College of Applied Studies, and its Community College, as well as the specialties they avail to students, stressing the importance of partnership with the private sector for job, including training and practical application during university study, and choosing the specialties that are in demand at the local level.
Further, The Minister Al-Dakhil inaugurated the dentistry university hospital building, and the social club for members of the faculty and staff. He also visited the documentation center, the botanical garden project, KSU endowment, and the expansion of colleges and buildings projects.
During his visit to the dentistry university hospital building, he was briefed by university officials about the hospital’s divisions, capacity and ultra-modern equipment. He was told that the new hospital can meet 50% of the needs of Riyadh city. He was also briefed on the opportunities for training and habilitation that the new university hospital offers.
In addition Minister Azzam Al-Dakhil also visited to KSU Sports Stadium.
During his visit to the stadium, the Minister was impressed by the high quality of the design which was led by KSU talent, saying that this was needed to improve the future of sports (football and other kinds) and that KSU should nurture young sports talent.
He also said that this cutting edge sports facility can be used not only at the university level, but also at the local, regional and international level, expressing his hope that he will one day be a spectator of one of the sports matches on this stadium.
The Minister Al-Dakhil stated King Saud University is a great integration between private and public sectors, and recalled that it was KSU which initiated this effort through the exchange with schools who visited the university facilities, and through support for youth athletes at an early stage, in the field of competitive sport.
The Minister Al-Dakhil also mentioned during his visits that public and private higher education sectors cooperation creating a possibility of sponsoring sports talents at an early age, even before they join the university. He concluded: "I was pleased to find that this concept is agreeable to universities and they seek to implement it."
