One of the teams representing the College of Computer and Information Sciences of King Saud University won the 13th Annual Conference for Student Research in the Field of Applied Computing, held at Zayed University.
The winning project was entitled "Automatic Arabic Captioning for Images Using Deep Learning: A Bottom-up and Top-down Attention-based Approach".
Team members from the Department of Computer Science: Nouf Al-Fayez, Lama Al-Dhafi, Razan Al-Khudairi, Arwa Al-Khamis, Sarah Al-Habib, and supervised by Dr. Hafiza Bin Haidour.
The project is a model that uses an attention-based approach to create a textual description of the image.
This is done by identifying the main parts of the image, the characteristics of those parts, and the relationships between them, and then converting them into a grammatically correct sentence in the Arabic language.
The college congratulates them for winning and wishes them many more achievements in the future
