Tunisian Poet Al-Mazgani Visits KSU

Tunisian poet Al-Monsaf Al-MazganiKing Saud University's Saudi Literature Chair hosted Tunisian poet Monsaf Al-Mazgani for a morning of poetry earlier this week.

Professor Hussain Al-Manasrah organized the event on March 17 that commenced with a welcome address by the Dean of the College of ArtsSaleh Mued Al-Ghamdi thanking the attendees and the poet before the reading started.

Al-Mazgani read from a collection of his published works that included excerpts from several of his longer poetry pieces as well as shorter verses.

King Saud UniversityHis poetry reading is celebrated for the range of emotion and style, as are his poems themselves.

He also recited work from other poets, which were well received by those in attendance.

The event, which was free and open to the public, attracted a large number of professors, faculty members, and graduate students.

Following the poetry reading the floor was open for dialogue and closed with a short Q-and-A session.

Many in the audience said the event was enjoyable, and hoped that KSU would host similar events in the future.

The event concluded with a presentation of the honorary shield of the Arabic Language and Literature Department to Al-Mazgani by the dean of the College of Arts, Saleh Mued Al-Ghamdi, the head of the Arabic Language and Literature Department, Assistant Professor Khaled Aiash Al-Alhafy, and head of the Scientific Seminar at the Department.
