Efficient storage and energy conversion is the need of the hour. It is imperative to develop highly efficient, low cost and environment friendly energy storage and conversion systems. Dr. Dar’s talk was focused on the advances in synthesis and optimization of graphene and graphene based metal oxides nanocomposites such as tin oxide, iron oxide/graphene, cerium oxide/graphene etc. The fabricated composite materials were studied by several analytical techniques such as, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Field emission-transmission electron microscopy (FE-TEM), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). Finally, the composite materials of increasing structural sophistication and complexity were tested for energy storage devices and biomedical applications.
