Prof. Muhammad Khurram Khan from Center of Excellence in Information Assurance at King Saud University delivered a keynote speech at the ‘4th General & Applied Sciences Research Forum’ held on 29 March 2017 at Prince Sultan University (PSU), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Forum was organized by the Research & Translation Center (RTC) in collaboration with the Deanship of Educational Services at PSU.

Prof. Khurram presented a keynote speech on the new dynamics of scientific publishing and its models. In his speech, Prof. Khurram discussed about the new publishing models and strategies to publish high-quality research papers in scientific journals. He discussed how open access journals are changing the publication landscape and brining impact on the society as well as overall performance of the researchers and scientists, etc. He also highlighted hijacked and predatory publication venues that are polluting science and harboring a lot of challenges for scientists, funding agencies, and society alike. During the speech, he demonstrated with some practical examples that how can we identify these hijacked and predatory journals. In addition, he underscored the importance of academic social networks on establishing fruitful research and academic collaborations with interested researchers. 

This forum was graced and attended by Dr. Rimah Al-Yahya, Vice-Rector of the PSU Women’s Campus, Dr. Musaed Bin Muqbil (Dean of Graduate Studies & Research), Dr. Fayez AlGhamdi (Dean of Educational Services), and Dr. Dina El-Dakhs (Director, Research & Translation Center). A large number of researchers, faculty members, professionals and students also attended the forum.
