"Official Visit: Sri Lankan Ambassador Visits the College of Medicine at the University"

As part of strengthening academic and research collaboration and building bridges of communication, the Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Bandar Nasser Al-Jifan, received today, Sunday morning, the Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom, His Excellency Mr. Amira Ajood Omar Laby, at the College’s premises. He was greeted by the College’s vice deans, along with some administration staff.

The Dean welcomed Mr. Amira Ajood in his office, after which a private meeting was held at the College. During the meeting, Dr. Al-Jifan outlined the College of Medicine’s journey, its academic and research standing, and its distinctive programs and research initiatives that support medical education at both local and international levels. The presentation provided a comprehensive overview of the College’s history, educational and academic programs, research centers, and its community and health sector service efforts.

The visit also included an extensive on-site tour of the College facilities, including the Anatomy Museum, which houses an advanced educational collection to support medical training, as well as the Research Center to inspect its laboratories and research equipment, and the Health Skills and Simulation Center, one of the most prominent centers for developing students’ skills through modern simulation techniques. The tour also covered the Obesity Research Center and its research programs and initiatives in combating obesity and related diseases.

At the end of the visit, the Ambassador expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the warm reception extended by the College. He praised the College’s evident progress in medical education at the university in general and the College of Medicine in particular, noting Sri Lanka’s interest in strengthening cooperation in the coming days with the university regarding academic and research collaboration.

In conclusion, the two parties exchanged commemorative gifts, and a group photo was taken to mark the occasion.

This visit comes within the framework of the King Saud University’s international relations and the building of scientific and research partnerships that contribute to the development of medical education and the exchange of expertise among global academic institutions.
