The Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Honors Five Research Centers at the College of Medicine

The Vice President of King Saud University for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Yazid bin Abdulmalik Al-Sheikh, honored five research centers at the College of Medicine, namely the Obesity Research Center, Diabetes Research Center, Sleep Research Center, Autism Research Center, and Liver Research Center, in recognition of their scientific and research contributions and their role in supporting the University’s health research and innovation ecosystem. This took place during his patronage of the ceremony honoring former leaders of the Science, Technology, and Innovation Unit and its affiliated centers, held on Tuesday, 3 February 2026, at CODE Hall at the University’s Entrepreneurship Institute.
The Director of the Obesity Research Center and the Diabetes Research Center, Professor Dr. Asim bin Abdulaziz Al-Fadda, received two commemorative shields in appreciation of the research efforts led by the two centers in the fields of obesity and diabetes and their related health challenges. The Sleep Medicine Research Center was also honored, with the shield received by Professor Dr. Ahmed bin Salem Bahammam, Director of the Sleep Medicine Research Center, in recognition of the Center’s pioneering research contributions in the field of sleep medicine and its role in advancing scientific knowledge related to sleep disorders. The shield of the Liver Research Center was received on behalf of the Director of the Liver Research Center, Professor Dr. Khalid bin Aydah Al-Sawat, by Dr. Amani Al-Saadoun, in recognition of the Center’s contributions to liver research. The shield of the Autism Research and Treatment Center was received by Professor Dr. Laila bint Youssef Al-Ayadhi, in recognition of the Center’s distinguished research output in the field of autism treatment research.
The event also included honoring Professor Dr. Ahmed bin Salem Bahammam on the occasion of receiving the Arab Physician of the Year Award for 2025, granted by the Council of Arab Health Ministers, in recognition of his outstanding scientific and research contributions.
This comes in light of the distinguished qualitative contributions and productivity of the College of Medicine at the University in the field of medical research, in accordance with the innovation and scientific research ecosystem.
