Under the patronage of the Acting President of the University, Prof. Ali bin Mohammed Mismali, the College of Medicine will host the Eighth Student Council Research Forum on Thursday, 12 February 2026, at the College’s Western Building atrium. The forum aims to foster a stimulating scientific environment and provide students of health-related disciplines with opportunities to present their research and compete for incentive cash awards that contribute to developing their research skills and enhancing the quality of scientific output. The forum will witness the participation of more than 40 local and Arab universities.
A total of 688 research papers were submitted, compared to 562 submissions last year, reflecting a notable growth in research participation. Students of the university accounted for 27% of the total submissions. Applied research papers underwent a rigorous peer-review process under the supervision of 50 scientific reviewers across two evaluation phases, resulting in the selection of 176 papers to advance to the second stage. In recognition of research excellence, the organizing committee announced an increase in the total prize value to SAR 26,000, representing an increase of nearly 20% compared to previous editions, in support of scientific research and to encourage academic creativity and innovation.
The organization of the Student Council Research Forum comes as part of the College of Medicine’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the research environment and develop scientific research skills among students of health disciplines, thereby contributing to the enhancement of research quality and aligning with the university’s strategic directions in supporting innovation and scientific research.
