Dean of the College of Medicine attends the closing of Anatomy Research Day 2026, featuring local and international scientific participation and 29 research posters.

The Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Bandar bin Nasser Al-Jafn, inaugurated, on Thursday, May 14, 2026, the closing activities of the Annual Anatomy Research Day 2026, organized by the Department of Anatomy at the college in the Western Building, in the presence of the Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Asim bin Abdulaziz Al-Fada, the Vice Dean for Development and Quality, Professor Dr. Ayman bin Abdulaziz Al-Ayadi, and a number of faculty members, researchers, and students. This was held as part of supporting research activity and promoting a culture of academic and scientific excellence in the fields of anatomy and medical sciences.
The event included a diverse scientific program featuring a series of lectures and specialized scientific research presentations addressing recent topics in anatomy, biomedical sciences, and stem cells, in addition to discussion sessions that reviewed the future of the specialty and the professional and research opportunities for medical students. The event also included a poster exhibition and student artistic works, showcasing various projects and research that reflected the level of innovation and academic excellence among participants.
In his speech during the event, Dr. Al-Jafn emphasized that the Annual Anatomy Research Day embodies the College of Medicine’s commitment to supporting academic and research excellence, noting that scientific research is a fundamental pillar in advancing medical sciences and improving the quality of healthcare. He also praised the development witnessed in research output within the Department of Anatomy, and its role in supporting young talents and enhancing an environment of innovation and scientific collaboration.
For her part, the Head of the Department of Anatomy, Dr. Samira bint Yasin Shaheen, explained that the Annual Anatomy Research Day comes as part of the college’s efforts to promote a culture of scientific research and to provide an academic platform that contributes to exchanging expertise and presenting the latest scientific developments in anatomy and medical sciences.
Meanwhile, Dr. Al-Jawhara bint Ahmed Al-Engari, Head of the Organizing Committee for the Department’s Annual Research Day, stated that the event witnessed wide participation from students and researchers, with more than 29 scientific posters presented, along with local and international contributions in the art and handicrafts competition related to anatomy and medical creativity. All submissions were evaluated by a specialized academic judging panel in collaboration with faculty of arts evaluators according to precise scientific criteria.
The scientific program included several keynote lectures and interactive scientific sessions. Dr. Islam Mohammed Saad El-Din presented a lecture titled:
“Advancing the Study of Embryo–Maternal Crosstalk via Endometrial and Trophoblastic Organoid Models”
Professor Dr. Khalid bin Hassan Al-Maliki presented a lecture titled:
“Research Writing with AIA Read Review Modify and Verify Approach”
Dr. Zahid Kimkhani presented a lecture titled:
“Learning from the Cadaver: A Qualitative Study of Medical Students Experiences in Abdominal Dissection”
At the conclusion of the event, the Dean of the College honored the winners of the scientific and research competitions. Ilham Saad received the Best Oral Presentation Award for her research titled:
“Minimal Response of Luminal A Breast Carcinoma to Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy: A Histopathological Perspective”
Noura Lanajawi won the Best Scientific Poster Award for her research titled:
“The Impact of Different Heat Stroke Levels on Thermoregulatory Responses and Physical Activity in Young Mice”
Meanwhile, Hamad Al-Qahtani won the Art and Handicrafts Competition Award for his artwork titled:
“Najdi Anatomical Heritage”
The organization of the Annual Anatomy Research Day reflects the Department of Anatomy at the College of Medicine’s commitment to supporting the research environment and motivating students and researchers toward creativity and scientific excellence, as well as enhancing academic communication between various health specialties, contributing to the development of knowledge and service of the scientific and medical community.
