Jafen Honors the Staff of the Examinations and Assessment Center and Reviews Its Development Plans

The Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Bandar bin Nasser Jafen, honored the Director of the Examinations and Assessment Center, Professor Dr. Hany Tamesah, and the center’s staff, in appreciation of their efforts during the past academic year, in the presence of the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Professor Dr. Mona bint Mohammed Suleiman. This took place during the first meeting of the Examinations and Assessment Center, held today, Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in the College Council Meeting Room (Old) at the College of Medicine.
At the beginning of the meeting, Jafen emphasized that the Examinations and Assessment Center is among the College’s priorities, noting that the purpose of examinations is not limited to measuring grades, but also includes the feedback they provide to help review and develop the curriculum and improve the College’s educational outcomes. He stressed the importance of applying modern assessment methods, addressing observations, continuously improving practices, and utilizing artificial intelligence and digital technologies in developing examination procedures in a manner that serves examination quality and accuracy, while academic review and professional responsibility remain in the hands of faculty members.
He explained that the performance of the College’s students and graduates in the examinations of independent professional bodies, including the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, represents an important indicator for measuring the efficiency of educational programs. He highlighted the distinguished levels achieved by the College’s students and commended the efforts of the Center in supporting the College’s educational process.
The meeting discussed several topics related to the beginning of the academic year, including monitoring academic discipline, examination plans sent to departments and students, and following up on developments in the College’s examinations. It also reviewed the Center’s development projects, including expanding non-paper-based examinations and digital transformation in multiple-choice examinations.
The Center’s executive presentation addressed the utilization of the organized question bank, which contains more than 20,000 questions, to improve the quality of questions and align them with examination blueprints and learning outcomes. It also included studying the use of artificial intelligence to review questions, identify repetition and areas of weakness, organize procedures for submitting examination questions, complete the requirements of examination blueprints and link them to learning outcomes, and enhance staff readiness, in a manner that supports the accuracy of results and the speed of report preparation.
This comes as part of the College of Medicine’s efforts to develop the work of the Examinations and Assessment Center and enhance the efficiency of examination procedures in support of the quality of the educational process.
