The University Board of Directors Holds Its First Meeting Following Its New Formation
The Board of Directors of King Saud University held its first meeting following the issuance of the gracious approval to reconstitute the Board, chaired by His Highness Prince Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf, Chairman of the University’s Board of Directors, with the attendance of the Board members.
On this occasion, His Highness expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister—may Allah preserve them—for the generous confidence and continued support extended to the University, which have contributed to advancing its progress and enabling it to perform its academic, research, and national roles with efficiency and effectiveness.
His Highness the Chairman of the University’s Board of Directors affirmed that the support and care extended to the University by the wise leadership—may Allah support it—have constituted a fundamental pillar of its progress, growth, and enhanced national contribution. He noted that the support and attention the University currently receives from His Royal Highness the Crown Prince opens broader horizons for development, excellence, and global competitiveness, while further strengthening its institutional and academic capabilities.
His Highness explained that King Saud University aspires to keep pace with the vision and ambitious directions of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince by developing its institutional system in accordance with global best practices, enhancing the quality of education, scientific research, and innovation, and attracting distinguished talent and expertise from within the Kingdom and abroad. These efforts support the achievement of the University’s strategic objectives and strengthen its standing among the world’s leading universities.
He further affirmed that the Board will continue to support the University’s institutional transformation and advance its systems in the fields of education, scientific research, and innovation in a manner that fulfills the aspirations of the wise leadership and strengthens the University’s academic and research standing. He noted that, since its establishment in 1377 AH (1957), the University has contributed to building national capabilities, preparing generations of qualified professionals and leaders, and consolidating its scientific and research presence through its contributions to knowledge production and support for the Kingdom’s national development journey.
For his part, His Excellency Eng. Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Sultan, Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, affirmed that the reconstitution of King Saud University’s Board of Directors represents a continuation of the University’s development journey and the strengthening of its academic and research role, contributing to the development of human capabilities, the attraction of talent and expertise, and the advancement of scientific research, innovation, and the knowledge economy.
His Excellency noted that developing King Saud University’s capabilities and strengthening its academic and research standing represent an important contribution to the education, research, and innovation ecosystem in the city of Riyadh. He added that this also contributes to enhancing the city’s competitiveness and attractiveness, supporting its ability to attract talent and expertise, and reinforcing its position as a hub for education, knowledge, and innovation.
The newly reconstituted Board of Directors of King Saud University comprises: His Excellency the Minister of Communications and Information Technology; His Excellency the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development; His Excellency the Minister of Transport and Logistic Services; His Excellency the Minister of Education; His Excellency the President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority; His Excellency Dr. Majid bin Ibrahim Alfayyadh, Chief Executive Officer of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre; Mr. Ahmed bin Ibrahim Linjawy, representative of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City; Dr. Edward Byrne, President of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology; Mr. Turki bin Abdulrahman Al-Nowaiser, representative of the Public Investment Fund; Dr. Sami bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Damigh; Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Alshwer; Dr. Saeed bin Hussein bin Mohammed Alturki; Dr. Deema bint Saleh bin Abdulrahman Alathel; Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Asheikh; Dr. Ahmed bin Saleh bin Ali Al-Yamani; and the President of King Saud University.
