The Department of Surgery at the College of Medicine launches its (Grand Rounds) with a lecture by Dr. Ismail Malik
As part of a series of scientific lectures organized by the Department of Surgery at the College of Medicine (Grand Rounds), the college hosted this morning Dr. Ismail Malik, one of the leading surgeons at Royal Bournemouth Hospital and a specialist in medical education in the United Kingdom, for a lecture titled: “Training Methods and Surgical Assessment in the United Kingdom.” The lecture was held in the main hall in the presence of specialists, researchers, and those interested in the field. Dr. Malik reviewed the longstanding experience of surgical training in the United Kingdom, beginning with the establishment of the world’s first Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 1505, and the journey of modern surgical training, which has undergone numerous challenges and developments over the past five centuries. He highlighted in his lecture the pillars of surgical training and assessment in recent decades, noting its position as one of the strongest professional training and development programs in the world, and the use of trainee assessment models, including the CCrISP training model.
