The Vice Dean of the College of Medicine for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, and Director of the University Center for Obesity Research, Prof. Issam Al-Fadda, inaugurated this morning, Wednesday, 21 January 2026, a specialized scientific lecture at the College entitled:
“Adipose Tissue Plasticity and Energy Regulation via Organelle Crosstalk in Adipocytes.”

The lecture was delivered by Professor Jai Bum Kim, Research Professor at Seoul National University, Republic of Korea, who presented the latest scientific findings on adipose tissue plasticity, its role in energy regulation, and the mechanisms of cellular communication within adipocytes. The event was attended by a number of faculty members, specialists, researchers, interested participants, and male and female students.

The lecture aimed to discuss the latest developments in adipocyte and obesity research, highlight obesity-related complications from a modern scientific perspective, and enhance scientific communication while accelerating interdisciplinary research collaboration in the field of adipose tissue research. It also addressed several key scientific themes, most notably the importance of adipocytes in determining obesity complications, metabolism-related biomarkers, and the utilization of advanced proteomics technologies to monitor obesity-associated complications.

This event comes as part of a series of scientific activities organized by the Center, within its efforts to support scientific research and build research partnerships that contribute to the development of health solutions related to obesity and its complications.
