The Department of Otolaryngology at the College of Medicine Organizes the Fourth Head and Neck Dissection Course in the Presence of the Dean of the College
The Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Bandar Al-Jafen, and the Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Asim Al-Fadda, attended the fourth Head and Neck Dissection Course organized by the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the College of Medicine today at the Experimental Surgery and Laboratory Animal Center. The course is being held from January 20 to 22, 2026. They were received by Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, Consultant in Head and Neck Tumors Surgery, Skull Base Surgery, and Thyroid Gland Surgery, and Head of the Operating Rooms Department at King Abdulaziz University Hospital. The course aims to develop advanced anatomical and surgical skills in the field of head and neck surgery through an intensive scientific and practical program that focuses on linking precise anatomical aspects with clinical surgical applications, contributing to enhancing the efficiency of healthcare practitioners and improving the quality of specialized medical training.
During their visit, the Dean of the College and the Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research reviewed the progress of the scientific and practical program of the course and its advanced topics, which included neck dissection, thyroid surgery, salivary gland surgery, laryngectomy and pharyngectomy, in addition to local and regional flap techniques. The course is delivered under the supervision of a distinguished group of consultants and faculty members: Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, Prof. Dr. Khalid Al-Qahtani, Dr. Saleh Al-Dahshri, Dr. Faisal Al-Zahrani, Dr. Naif bin Fneis, Dr. Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, Dr. Hassan Al-Khars, and Dr. Al-Baraa Najmi.
The training course targets resident physicians in the specialties of otolaryngology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and general surgery, enhancing the exchange of scientific and practical expertise and supporting the system of continuing medical education.
The organization of this course comes as part of the College of Medicine’s ongoing efforts to support specialized training programs and provide an advanced educational environment that contributes to preparing qualified medical professionals and keeping pace with the latest scientific developments in head and neck surgery, thereby enhancing the College’s academic and research standing.
