The Internship Unit at the College of Medicine Organizes the Orientation Program for 310 Medical Interns for the 1447–1448 AH Academic Year

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Bandar bin Nasser Al-Jafen, the Vice Deanship for Academic Affairs, represented by the Internship Unit, organized yesterday, Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the Orientation Program for Medical Interns for the 1447–1448 AH (2026–2027) Academic Year in the Grand Main Hall at the College of Medicine. The program aimed to prepare interns for the start of their internship year and familiarize them with the regulations, procedures, and educational and professional opportunities associated with this training stage. A total of 310 male and female students from both inside and outside the University were admitted to the Internship Program this year. The program included an introductory lecture delivered by the Head of the Internship Unit, Dr. Anas Al-Thunayan, in which he reviewed the structure of the Internship Program, its training tracks, the rotation distribution and evaluation process, as well as the regulations, services, policies, available support, and official communication channels provided by the Unit for trainees.

The program also featured a number of scientific and professional development lectures. Dr. Mohammed Al-Jaafar, Head of the Academic Advising Unit and Deputy Head of the Trainee Support Unit, delivered a lecture entitled Professional Challenges and Medical Errors. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Hadi, Consultant Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist and Supervisor of the SABIC Chair for Mental Health Applications Research, presented a lecture entitled The Wise Physician in the Face of Stress, addressing strategies for dealing with professional challenges and pressures during medical practice. Dr. Mohammed Al-Hamoud, Family Medicine Resident, delivered a lecture entitled Time Management During the Internship Year, while Dr. Nawaf Al-Madhi, a former medical intern, reviewed the key practices that contribute to the success of medical interns and enhance their professional readiness. Ms. Amal Al-Otaibi from the Internship Unit also presented an overview of the forms and procedures related to the Internship Program and the mechanisms for completing the relevant administrative requirements.

The program also included panel discussions with medical interns from previous cohorts, during which they shared their practical experiences across a number of clinical specialties, discussed the major challenges they encountered during their internship year, and provided practical advice and guidance to the new interns. The program concluded by answering the participants’ questions and enhancing their readiness to begin the internship year with competence and confidence.
