Under the auspices of Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Othman, Vice Rector for Educational and Academic Affairs, the 5th meeting for college Vice Deans for Academic Affairs was held last Wednesday. Dr. Abdulrahman Alangari, Assistant Vice Rector for Academic Plans and Programs attended the meeting, as well as Dr. Saud Al-Kathiri, Assistant Vice Rector for Educational Development and Director of the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching; Dr. Adel Al-Shayea, Assistant Vice Rector for Training and Practical Learning; Dr. Fahad Al-Qurainy, Dean of Student Affairs; and the Vice Rectorate’s Advisors.

Dr. Al-Othman welcomed those present expressing his appreciation of the important role played by college Vice Deans who work hard for the benefit of the students. He also explained that the 5th meeting was one of a series of similar meetings stressing the contribution of college Vice Deans in supporting KSU’s administration for the success of the educational process; adding that they carry a huge responsibility. He went on to summarize their involvement in resolving admission and registration issues.

On the other hand, the Assistant Vice Rector for Educational Development presented the modified 3rd version of the Student Learning Evaluation Policy. The Policy was discussed in this meeting in preparation for its discussion by the Academic Plans and Programs Committee. It consists of the principles of students learning evaluation, evaluation techniques, and evaluation areas. It also outlines college responsibilities and authorities, as well as student rights and duties.

The meeting was enriched by an in-depth discussion of the Policy which reflected the importance placed on learning and evaluation processes by KSU’s colleges. At the end of the meeting, the Vice Deans expressed their appreciation and the benefit of holding similar meetings due their importance to the University in general, and the educational process in particular.
