Orientation Week

The Female Student Campus organized an orientation program for new freshmen students in the first week of the second semester of 1437 - 1438, which lasted from Sunday 5/8/1438 until Thursday 12/05/1438 H.

Dr. Einas Sulaiman Al-Eisa, Vice-rector for Female Student Affairs, congratulated both the academic and administrative staff on the beginning of the second semester. She explained that the university is seeking to achieve more scientific progress, research accomplishments, and management development. She encouraged everyone to work hard and dedicate efforts to achieve the university’s goals by using the resources that the university offers to assure a strong start to the new semester.  She concluded by asserting the need of both the university leaders and employees to work shoulder-to-shoulder with genuineness and sincerity.

Dr. Nadia Al-Ghreimil, Dean of Science and Medical Studies, added: “As we began this academic year with solid steps and outstanding scientific achievements, I spire that the second semester, just like the first semester, to be full of success and innovations that make us proud to be part of King Saud University. On this occasion, I ask Almighty God for the success of our students, faculty members and staff whom I want to remind that we, at King Saud University, are seeking to build an ambitious and creative country by working together with persistence and diligence to accomplish the Kingdom’s vision.”

Dr. Gazeal Al-aisa, Dean of Humanities Departments, congratulated all staff and students of King Saud University hoping that this semester will be fruitful and full of success and accomplishments. She asked God for all the success to continue their efforts for the advancement of the educational and scientific process. She also stressed on the role of the King Saud University’s staff in the advancement of this country whose government has provided all the facilities achieve its ambitious vision in order to be in the ranks of the world's leading countries.

Dr. Norah Abanme, Vice-dean of Student Affairs, asserted that the Deanship of Female Student Affairs occupies an important position in the University for its diverse and comprehensive services for students. The provided services include activities, clubs, Student Partnership, guidance and counseling, Student Skills Development Center, skill record, student publications, nutrition services. As well as, other services that provide integrated and stable environment that helps in building a solid student personality in accordance with our religion, values and culture. In order, to help students face life with confidence, awareness and cooperative spirit.

Dr. Reem Alsalem, Vice-dean of the College of Languages and Translation, said that the orientation program, held by the College of Languages and Translation, aimed to help the new students in learning about the college, its regulations and its staff to assist them in integrating into the campus community. She added that the program included tours inside and outside the college to the staff’s offices and various service providers. She mentioned that the program consisted of  a variety of events, held in the college’s auditorium, in which representatives from the administration, academic affairs and services have participated to educate the students about the most important educational regulations, the duties and rights of student, extra-curricular activities and voluntary opportunities offered by the university.

Ms. Ibtesam AL-Saif, the President of the Orientation Week Commission in the Collage of Languages and Translation, added that the program complies with the directives of his Excellency Dr. Badran Al-Omar, Rector of King Saud University, Dr. Einas Al-Eisa, Vice-rector for Female Student Affairs, and Dr. Gazeal Al-aisa, Dean of Humanities Departments, in terms of preparing the new and transferred students to the College of Languages and Translation. She stressed on the importance of the orientation week in facilitating students in terms of guiding them to register courses, presenting previous students’ experiences, and familiarizing them with their rights and duties to ease their adaptation to the college life.

Ms. Widad Al- Hudeb, Vice-dean for Academic Affairs, asserted that the orientation week in the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences this year included transforming the Student Guidance booklet to electronic format so that the student can scan the barcode and install it directly on her smartphone so she can easily refers to it when needed. The program included the induction Corners of the College clinics, the nine programs of the college, the unity of integrated services, "my window" and student clubs.

Dr. Hessah Al-Salmah, Vice-dean of Computer and Information Sciences College, added that the orientation program was placed carefully by the Oriented Committee College and the direct supervision of the College Administration. The program targeted freshmen students in all undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The program includes representatives of departments, units, committees and student clubs over three days in the lobby of Computer and Information Sciences College from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. in order to let students become familiar with the services provided for them and answer their questions. She also praised the participation of postgraduate students from various departments who guided new students and helped them in using various electronic systems to modify their schedules.

Dr.Arwa Al-Jalal. Vice-dean of law and Political Science College explained that the College of law and Political Sciences in the Female campus has initialized all college facilities and classrooms to receive her students since the first day of the semester. The College was also keen on facilitating registration, deletion and addition for students through "summer" system which does not require the student to attend the college where applications are raised and processed electronically. She also confirmed that the College began working on students’ service desk “my window” that receive inquiries from students and service them in one place, which reflected positively on students’ service at the College.

Dr.Abeer Al-Medlej, Vice-dean of College of Science and the Chairwomen of the departments welcomed the freshmen students of the College of Science and they informed them about the services provided by the College with the participation of Departments (Botany & Microbiology Department ,Chemistry Department, physics Department, Biochemistry Department, and Mathematics Department) and supportive administrations (Student Affairs unit, Guidance and Counseling unit, psychological and social specialists unit).

All colleges include an office of integrated services center for students "my window". It is an office for undergraduate and postgraduate studies to cope with the goals of the University by offering the best methods to help and support students. It helps students to quickly and easily complete the required procedures until the request is ready and received.
