     On the 22nd and 23rd of Nov  2017, The Community Health Department at the College of Applied Medical Sciences at King Saud University organized a seminar on Community Health in KSU's medical city. The seminar was under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Badran bin Abdulrahman Al-Omar, Rector of King Saud University and was attended by the Vice-Rector for Female Student Affairs Dr. Einas Al-Eisa, Dean of College of Applied Medical Sciences Dr. Yazeed Al-Alsheik, Vice Dean for Female Students Dr. May Alrashed, President of the Saudi Federation for Community Sports Princess Reema bin Bandar, KSU faculty and more than 34 speakers from Saudi Arabia and GCC nations.

     The seminar aimed to propagate an awareness about women's health subjects, share latest research in this subject, provide chances for future communication and knowledge exchange, and document future project and research recommendations.

     The seminar targeted health practitioner, doctors and specialists from Saudi Arabia and GCC nations. The seminar included 4 workshops to promote healthy nutrition practices and physical fitness and thus enrich the scientific content by providing 16 hours certified from Saudi commission for Health Specialties.

     The ceremony began with reciting verses from the Quran, following by a film to further emphasize the purpose of this event.

     In her speech, the Deputy Head of Community Health Sciences Department Dr. Dara Al-Disi emphasized the seminars' role in shedding the light on women's health subjects as it is one of the top medical concerns of the World Health Organization. She pointed out that the seminar comes within the framework of KSU's effort in offering the best medical services for women to support and improve their well-being, and elevating awareness about women's health issues.

     Moreover, the Dean of College of Applied Medical Sciences Dr. Yazeed Al-Alsheik stated the importance of public health on national security in Saudi Arabia. He added that this seminar reflects the 2030 vision in the key role women play in all future and development plan for the country and hence focusing on empowering women and investing in them by increasing their participation in the labor market, after all women represent 50% of the universities outcome.

   Furthermore, Adhwa al-Arefie gave a speech on behalf of Princess Reema bint Bandar expressing the importance of physical activity for women in improving their health and preventing many diseases and conditions like: cancer, diabetes, heart diseases and blood pressure. Physical Activity has also been associated with improved health by improving  blood circulation. Surveys indicate that only 8% of Saudi women are physically active as compared to 70% of foreign women.

     During the ceremony, Dr. Nadia Al-Tamimi a Counseling Psychologist stressed on the importance of promoting health concepts to enable women to identify health problems and thus change their negative attitude into a confident one. She revealed that the strong women have a strong relation to their bodies and emphasized the effect of healthy nutrition on their mental health.

     His Excellency Dr. Badran Al-Omar lauded KSU's role in addressing societal issues and dealing with the society's concerns and problems.  He stated that the seminar comes within the KSU contribution  in emphasizing the essential role of females in society.

     At the end of the ceremony, His Excellency honored the governmental and private entities, scientific societies who sponsored the seminar, such as Al-Jeel Medical , Kore Fitness Center, Ideal Protein, Almultaka, Al-Jazerah Dates and Food Factory and  le Moulin Bakery.
