A King Saud University research team was among the participants at the Saudi International Electronics, Communications and Photonics Conference held April 23-26 in Riyadh.
The conference, organized by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) at its headquarters in collaboration with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), featured prominent international experts, researchers and speakers in these fields, in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (MPQ).
The first session, chaired by KSU professor of physics and astronomy Dr. Abdallah M Azzeer, was titled “Limits of Electronics and Photonics.”
It comprised four work papers (“Control of Collective Electron Movement in Light-field Nanocircuits,” “Smart XUV Radiation Generation with Boosting Cavities,” “Electronics, Light Emission, Electric Current Load and Binding Atoms Together to Form New Molecules” and “Ultra Speed and Control of Carbon Dioxide Isolator Used in Femtosecond and Attosecond Lasers.”
On the second day, Dr. Ferenc Krausz, MPQ director and head of the KSU-MPQ collaboration team, spoke on electronic movement as a principal process in a wide spectrum of modern technologies, including micro-electronic molecules, bioinformatics, photovoltaic cells, microbiology and information technology.
Krausz pointed out that recent developments in laser science have opened the door to monitoring and controlling micro-movements that cannot be accessed using control tools, including wave forms tools for a few circuits of laser light and attosecond ultraviolet laser pulses.
The Conference centered on increasing the tools of development and scientific research in the Kingdom in the fields of electronics, communications and photonics. It also dealt with stabilizing relationships among the labor market, scientific industry and scientific research centers, and providing a true image of the Kingdom to the West through the presence of renowned international experts who could bring about scientific collaboration among universities, governmental and private institutions, and their foreign counterparts.
