King Saud UniversityKing Saud University's Advanced Materials Research Chair,  in collaboration with the Saudi National Plan for Science and Technology held a workshop in May entitled Thermal decomposition technology for addressing solid waste in Saudi Arabia.

Various specialists, faculty and students interested in Saudi Arabia's environmental concerns were on hand to hear experts discuss their research findings dealing with the development of thermal decomposition process and advanced technological methods for the disposal of solid waste (municipal waste, etc.) and converted to environment-friendly products and of economic and environmental.

The workshop also dealt with new prospects for investment in environmental conservation and the recovery of economic losses from residues, and included the following participants.

  • Eng. Nawaf Aladiani, Director of the Department of public administration control of hygiene in Riyadh, Municipal solid waste management in the city of Riyadh,
  • Ibrahim on going science- Mansoura University, Egypt Thermal decomposition of tires and specifications and applications of active carbon product
  • Mohammed Abdul Atty.Habila-King Saud University Production of active carbon from municipal solid waste and some agricultural residues.
