Advanced Manufacturing Institute participate in the exhibition Saudi armed forces to support the localization of spare parts industry

Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Assistant Secretary of Defense HE Gen. Mohammed bin Abdullah Ayesh Inaugurated the exhibition of the armed forces to support the localization of spare parts industry AFED in Riyadh International Conference Center and the exhibition. The exhibition was held from 13 - 18 Jumada al-Oola 1437 AH, corresponding to 22 to 27 February 2016 G from 10:00 AM to 18:00 PM. Advanced Manufacturing Institute (AMI) at King Saud University has participated in this exhibition and believe in the need of localization of spare parts in Saudi industries. AMI also seek to build future partnerships with some of the top local and international manufacturers and keep up with latest trends in this field. The exhibition featured scientific seminars for the elite of the leading manufacturers and shareholders in the field of localization and transport industry spare parts. Dean of the Advanced Manufacturing Institute Prof. Abdulrahman bin Mushabab Ahmari presented paper entitled "Reverse engineering applications in spare parts". He discussed the most important tools, methodologies, and the latest technologies used in the field of reverse engineering and its mechanism, advantages, and disadvantages. He also presented examples of previous work and current of the Institute, including the military models. During the exhibition AMI wing was a major focus for large numbers of visitors from excellencies, local investors and international companies. The Institute received many common desires to cooperate to build bridges of communication between King Saud University and various sectors. The AMI wing displayed some prototypes manufactured in the Institute. A brief overview of each project explains the localization and manufacture of spare parts in the Kingdom. The dual electric conductor electric which used in aircraft Tornado and F-15, a protective clothing of lead, protective shield of armored M113, and models of batteries, composite materials and models of corrosion resistance as well as medical samples were presented at AMI wing.

Deputy Director for Technical Affairs Prof. Dr. Said Darwish, Eng. Moataz bin Mohammed Almdemig (pavilion manager), Eng. Yasser Alnowaiser, Eng. Mohamed Al-Khathlan, and Mr. Hamad Quraini were also participated in exhibition and answer visitor’s questions. They discussed about participating to activate joint cooperation with various parties in line with the vision and aspirations of the university.
