Symposium on Volunteerism in College of Education

     Educational Policy and Early Education Department in the College of Education, under the supervision of Dr. Sharifah Alqassem, organized a Symposium on Volunteerism.  The Symposium addressed different topics; the definition of volunteerism and its impact on society, presented by Ms. Abeer Alfryan, volunteering at schools and the individuals' motivation behind volunteering, presented by Ms. Afnan Alsayyari, and the objectives of voluntary organizations and their compatibility with the objectives of volunteering. Speakers included Wijdan Alwagdan, member of the Youth Advisory Committee in Emirate of Riyadh Province and the Head of Student Partnership, and Afaf Almohaideb, the guest of honor and representative of Bunyan Charity. During the Symposium, a voluntary project was proposed which was a cultural "Dakka" wagon to raise the cultural awareness.

     The Symposium recommendations included spreading the culture of volunteering, developing volunteer programs that fit individual needs and interests, educating families about the importance of volunteering, and finally integrating volunteering into school curriculum.
