AMI Participation in IEOM 2019

Advanced Manufacturing Institute (AMI), participated at the recently concluded First GCC International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, November 26-29 November 2019. The primary theme of this conference was the role of Industrial Engineering in the realization of Saudi Vision 2030. The research paper titled “Design the support structures for fused deposition modeling 3D printing”, was presented by Eng. Wadea in this conference. This paper was also co-authored by Eng. Syed Hammad Mian and Dr. Hisham Alkhalefah. This work has studied the influence of different support structures on building time, material utilization, and overhang surface deformation. The primary objective was the selection of an appropriate strategy for efficacious and economical generation of overhang surfaces in fused deposition modeling. The work had drawn the attention of all listeners and was readily appreciated by them. The paper was also awarded as the Best Track Paper in industrial and manufacturing track.
