In continuation of the achievements of the local, regional and international civil engineering department, and in a new international achievement, the department has honored the emergence of the names of seven (7) of its affiliates in the database of international researchers most cited for their research, represented by the top two percent (2%) of the researchers – worldwide - included in the Scopus database in various scientific disciplines. They are (in order):

Prof. Yousef A Al-Salloum
Prof. Tarek H. Almusallam
Prof. Saleh H. Alsayed
Prof. M. Iqbal Khan
Prof. Mohammad J. Al-Shannag
Dr. Ahmed K. El-Sayed
Dr. Hussein M Elsanadedy

The list came within a detailed analytical study conducted by a scientific team led by a distinguished and internationally respected Professor (John Loannidis) at Stanford University. The study was published in the journal “PLOS Biology” in its tenth edition in its eighteenth volume published in October of 2020. The study relied on the methodology of evaluating researchers around the world on several standard indicators for measuring the scientific productivity of researchers, which are reliable indicators in measuring citation and impact on scientific research.

The database included 160,000 researchers from 149 countries in 22 scientific specialties and 176 subspecialties, and the study concluded with two types of databases: The first is the database of the most cited during the scientific career from the beginning of the author’s publication until late last year; And the second database of the most cited during the past year (2019) only.

These achievements of publications in prestigious international journals and referring to them through citations in global databases imposes itself on any researcher in this type of studies related to the evaluation of researchers. This type of study shows the position of researchers among their peers around the world in different disciplines and becomes source of information for universities and scientific institutions regarding the positions of the researchers.

The Civil Engineering Department congratulates all the department's faculty and is proud of these international research achievements that were entirely based on distinguished researches conducted by Department faculty members in the laboratories of the Civil Engineering Department over the past two decades. This high level of achievement reflects the real distinguished participation of local researchers in the international research databases.
