Innovation Center launches (Thoughts) Forum

The Innovation Center held a dialogue session at the Female Students’ Campus on Tuesday 16 November 2021, as part of the (Thoughts) forum which is an initiative to find solutions to social issues and challenges.

 

The dialogue session was entitled “The Social Challenges and Social Innovation Opportunities” and was attended by elites in various fields. The session discussed the main challenges facing each field and the possible solutions. In addition, the pioneering and innovative community initiatives in Saudi were highlighted.

 

Dr. Sarah Al-Abdulkarim, specialized in Early Childhood Education, mentioned the major challenge faces parents is the confusion in the right parenting style, since overindulgent parenting may develop a narcissistic child and strict parenting may produce child with low self-esteem.

 

One solution mentioned in this field was (Teeko) project. Abeer Al-Surai’ elaborated on this social educational technology project which was developed to guide parents through interactive training courses and programs. She noted that the aim of the project is to raise awareness about the different parenting styles to create a conscious society. 

 

As for the field of mental health, Dr. Majida Al-Najem pointed out that the main challenge in this field is the lack of awareness about mental health and the stigma surrounding mental health. Wa’ad Al-Onazy elaborated on one of the solutions which is (Labayh) app is a platform for personal and family consultations with consultants and experts in confidence.

At the end of the dialogue session, the speakers were handed souvenir as a thank you for their time and effort.

 

The Innovation Center seeks to attract all innovative ideas and projects through the knowledge management system. In addition, a workshop will be held from 5 – 7 December 2021, on creating community initiatives presented by Mutlaq Al-Onazy .
