Under the patronage of His Excellency, the President of the University Prof. Badran A. Al-Omar, the Social Innovation Unit of the Innovation Center at the Entrepreneurship Institute at King Saud University intends to launch the first social innovation camp under the name (Athar). It aims to raise awareness and spread the culture of social innovation, achieve the Kingdom’s vision 2030 in promoting the concept of innovation and community development, and Increase community participation in projects of social impact within the humanities colleges in KSU. In addition, it intends to qualify and empower social innovation pioneers to use tools and methods necessary for assessing societal needs, developing successful social innovative projects, and strengthening the relations between the university and those interested in social innovation and social entrepreneurship in society.

The implementation of “Athar” camp will start from 8/5/2022 AD until 2/6/2022 AD, in King Saud University and for all members of the university, including male and female students, faculty, staff members and graduates.

This camp aspires to achieve social impact through social innovation tools and practices, starting with identifying and formulating social challenges, to creating the innovative idea and transforming it into a social entrepreneurial project capable of initial launch. The camp program also considers the diversity of activities through consecutive  and coherent training stages, to ensure meeting the knowledge and skill needs of the participants.
