College of Medicine Celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) and Head & Neck Surgery at the College of Medicine, a celebration was recently held at the main lecture hall of King Abdulaziz University Hospital. The event was attended by Prof. Asim Al-Fadda, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Rasheed, Head of the Department, faculty members, selected students, and fellowship doctors.
The celebration highlighted the department’s journey since its founding in 1974–1975, showcasing five decades of scientific and research achievements that have contributed to the development of the specialty nationally and internationally.
In conjunction with the anniversary, the 36th Annual ENT Updates Research Day was held to emphasize the latest scientific and research developments in the field of ENT and head & neck surgery. The event fostered communication between consultants, researchers, fellowship doctors, and students, aiming to stimulate scientific productivity and advance medical practice within the department.
The program included discussion sessions covering cutting-edge research and clinical practices in the specialty, enhancing the event’s value as a scientific platform for experience exchange and review of global advancements. The celebration concluded with honoring the department’s pioneers in recognition of their professional contributions, as well as selected staff members for their excellence in research and clinical work.
This milestone reflects the department’s continued commitment to leadership in medical service, scientific excellence, and research advancement for years to come.
