Electronic Orientation Program for New Common First-Year Students Begins

Under the patronage of Acting President of King Saud University, Professor Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Masmali, the university will launch tomorrow, Thursday, the first electronic phase of its orientation program, “Preparing You for Your University Journey,” organized by the Deanship of Common First Year to welcome newly admitted students for the 1448 AH academic year.

Dr. Mohammed bin Hindi Al-Ghamdi, Dean of Common First Year, explained that the program aims to prepare students for their transition to university, familiarize them with the regulations and policies governing their studies, academic programs, and available services, and clarify study procedures and requirements. This will help enhance students’ readiness and accelerate their adjustment to the university’s academic environment.

Dr. Al-Ghamdi noted that the program consists of two complementary phases. The first is the electronic phase, which students complete remotely and which begins tomorrow. It includes reviewing university regulations, completing essential personal information, learning about the university email system, booking an appointment to attend the interactive orientation activities, and taking the English language placement test.

Students will then proceed to the interactive phase, which includes a series of activities and services beginning with an orientation lecture, followed by the issuance of university ID cards and distribution of textbooks. Students will also visit an orientation exhibition showcasing the departments and services of the Deanship, the university’s colleges, and various supporting entities. These activities are designed to ensure that students complete all requirements for starting university in an organized and accessible manner.

Dr. Al-Ghamdi emphasized that the program is particularly significant this year as the university transitions to a direct college admission system and ends the previous track-based system. The program therefore focuses on familiarizing each student with their academic environment, its requirements, and the support services available to them, providing greater clarity about their academic journey from the outset.

For his part, Dr. Attiyah Al-Attiyah, Executive Director of the Orientation Program and Vice Dean of Common First Year for Educational and Academic Affairs, noted that the orientation program represents the first point of departure for newly admitted students at King Saud University and an essential step toward a more informed and well-prepared university experience. It helps students integrate into university life and make optimal use of the academic opportunities and services available to them.

He added that the Deanship’s commitment to implementing the orientation program early reflects its advance preparations for the new academic year, enabling students to begin their university journey from day one with a clear understanding of the regulations, services, and opportunities available to them.
