KSU Professor Honored with Cybersecurity Innovator of the Year Award
Prof. Muhammad Khurram Khan, a distinguished Professor of Cybersecurity at the Center of Excellence in Information Assurance (CoEIA), King Saud University (KSU), has been honored with the prestigious “Cybersecurity Innovator of the Year Award” at the 5th MENA Cyber Security Conference 2026, held on September 8 at the Crowne Plaza in Riyadh.

The 'Cybersecurity Innovator of the Year Award' recognizes individuals whose visionary research, groundbreaking technological contributions, and strategic leadership are helping to redefine the future of digital defense and cybersecurity. The recognition highlights Prof. Khan’s sustained contributions to cybersecurity research, innovation, and education, while underscoring his continued role in advancing the field in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
Prof. Khan is an internationally recognized cybersecurity scientist and thought leader who has made significant contributions to the advancement of cybersecurity research and education. His work has helped strengthen research capacity, foster technological innovation and industrial practices, and contribute to the development of the next generation of cybersecurity professionals and researchers.

His extensive research portfolio encompasses more than 550 research publications, along with numerous books, patents, and other scholarly contributions. Over the course of his distinguished academic career, Prof. Khan has established a strong international research presence and has contributed extensively to addressing emerging cybersecurity challenges associated with rapidly evolving digital technologies. His current research activities focus on some of the most critical challenges at the intersection of cybersecurity and emerging technologies, including AI and autonomous systems security, connected and intelligent vehicle security, cyber-physical systems security, Internet of Things (IoT) security, and advanced cyber defense technologies.
Adding further distinction to the achievement, Prof. Khan has been ranked No. 2 among the Best Computer Science Scientists in Saudi Arabia in the prestigious Research.com ranking. The recognition reflects his sustained research impact and scholarly contributions to computer science and cybersecurity and further reinforces his standing among leading researchers in the Kingdom.
