His Excellency Rector of King Saud University, Abdullah Al-Othman, met yesterday with His Excellency Rector of Umm Al-Qura University, Adnan bin Mohammad Wazan. The meeting was attended by Their excellencies the University Deputy Rector. His Excellency Dr. Al-Othman started the meeting by welcoming His Excellency Dr. Adnan Al-Wazan and the accompanying delegation and then drew attention to the fact that Umm Al-Qura University enjoys such a special status thanks to the uniqueness of its geographic location and its core educational mission. Then, Dr. Al-Othman emphasized that, now more than ever, Saudi Universities are in dire need for such brotherly as well as academic visits to enhance mutual cooperation, set a common prospective vision, exchange research and identify their own weaknesses and strengths in order to save time and work together towards securing the rights of the upcoming generations. His Excellency confirmed that the University’s current strategy, which is aimed at transforming the Saudi economy into one based on knowledge, comes in the context of its overall prospective vision for accomplishing international leadership and social partnership in its ultimate endeavor of building a knowledge-based community.
From his part, His Excellency Rector of Umm Al-Qura University, Dr. Adnan bin Mohammad Wazan expressed his pleasure at the meeting and his gratitude to King Saud University as well as his admiration for all the developmental programs it has recently inaugurated. Dr. Wazan emphasized in this regard the importance of sustaining communication between all Saudi universities in order to facilitate knowledge transfer and achieve national scientific reform. After this, Their Excellencies the two University Rectors watched a recorded video presentation of all the developmental programs that have recently been launched at King Saud University, then headed to inaugurate yet another such program; the Computer-Assisted Learning Program.
