In a meeting between Dr. Al-Othman and the Korean Ambassador, King Saud University attracts Korean international companies to invest in the Riyadh Techno Valley
The Director of King Saud University (KSU) Dr. Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman Al Othman received in his office Saturday morning, the Korean Ambassador to the Kingdom Hong Jong Ki and the Counsellor of Embassy of the Republic of Korea Wong Chul Pak,
The meeting discussed the means of cooperation between the KSU and the Korean research and technical institutions. The talk focused on attracting Korean international companies to invest in the Riyadh Techno Valley, particularly in the field of information technology and electronic learning, especially as Korean companies such as LG and Samsung have distinguished experience in this area. It also discussed the establishment of an academic program on Korean studies in the KSU as well as deepening the cooperation with the prominent Korean universities such as the SEOUL National University of Korea, the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, the Korean University and Pohang University of Science
The KSU Director Dr. Al Othman briefed the Korean Ambassador on the KSU contacts with Korean universities and research institutions, outlining that a team from the university paid a number of visits and that the areas of cooperation were identified. He said it is time to activate the cooperation and make it reality, particularly in the field of technical communications and information.
Dr. Al Othman stressed that that King Saud University believes that the cooperation with the Koreans, is a means towards achieving the objective of the University to play a key role by contributing effectively to the States direction towards conversion to a knowledge-based economy especially as the Korean experience achieved successful story in this field during the past three decades. He affirmed that the Riyadh Techno Valley aims to achieve this objective and that the Valley is the appropriate place to host some of the prominent Korean companies to invest in it in a way that leads to achievement of this purpose for the common benefit of the two sides.
At the end of the meeting, gifts were presented by both sides. The meeting was attended by Vice Rector for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Ali Al-Ghamdi, the Deputy Rector of the University for Knowledge Exchange and Technology Transfer Dr. Fahd Alkolibi, Dr. Zaid Al-Othman, the Korean Cooperation Coordinator at the university.
