Narayanaswamy Balakrishnan of Canada's McMaster University paid a visit to King Saud University on Monday as a visiting professor, having accepted an invitation by the University's Vice Rectorate for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. Professor Balakrishnan, Professor of Mathematics and Statistics at McMaster University in hamilton, Canada, is the chief editor for a number of distinguished scientific journals, and has edited numerous books exploring issues in the field of statistics.
He was received in Riyadh by the University's Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Prof. Ali Al-Ghamdi, and shared took the opportunity to share his expertise and perspectives with students and faculty at the College of Science. He presented a lecture to female students at the Center of Science and Medical Studies Departments in Malaz and graciously met with Saudi undergraduate and graduate students, and discussed potential research projects with several King Saud University officials.
Dr. Balakrishnan's research has explored statistical frontiers such as order statistics, outliers, distribution theory, statistical inference, records, multivariate analysis, reliability, survival analysis and industrial statistics. He made an excellent impression on the Saudi students and his scientific peers, and had words of praise for the progress and ambitions of the University.
