A Website was launched last week in a ceremony that highlighted King Saud University’s important research collaboration with the internationally renowned Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics (MPQ) in Germany. Attending the event was Ferenc Krausz, the director of the Institute for Quantum Optics, as well as Dr. Abdallah  M. Azzeer, head of research team in Saudi Arabia, program coordinator Dr. Zeyad A. Al-Ahmed, and Dr. Nasser S. Al-Zayed, Chairman of the KSU Department of Physics and Astronomy.

Dr. Krausz praised the partnership, which was inaugurated in 2009, and expressed enthusiasm about the importance these bilateral relations will have for the University and its part in photonics research, which, among other things, explores laser technology and its applications.

King Saud University Rector Abdullah Al-Othman thanked the Saudi research team on their research, which has produced several publications in internationally recognized scientific journals. Dr. Krausz expressed his own thanks to KSU’s Vice Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Prof. Ali Al-Ghamdi for his tireless support of the MPQ-KSU collaboration, which is clearly one of King Saud University’s most noteworthy and successful international projects.
