Dr. Lubna A. Al-Ansary of the College of Medicine’s Department of Family & Community Medicine is to deliver a lecture at the 19th Cochrane Colloquium: VI International Conference on Patient Safety, which has dubbed this year's event as “Scientific Evidence for Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety”. The distinguished King Saud University researcher and clinician is among an impressive collection of international experts attending the Colloquium in Madrid, Spain to share and reflect on the latest and future improvements of the quality of care and safety of patients.
Dr. Al-Ansari, Supervisor for the University’s Sheikh Abdullah Bahamdan Chair for Evidence-Based Health Care and Knowledge Translation (EBHC), will discuss clinical practice guidelines and systematic reviews, of which she has prolific research background.
She has indeed contributed much to the fields of evidence-based guidelines, particularly regarding systematic reviews, which apply an explicit and rigorous method to identify, critically appraise, and then synthesize relevant studies in the published medical research, are central to the field of evidence-based medicine.
Extremely active, both nationally and internationally, in research organizations dedicated to evidence-based health care, Dr. Al-Ansary is the Chairperson of the GCC Evidence-Based Clinical Practice, a member of the Scientific Committee for Guidelines International Network (G-I-N) and Chairperson of a GCC Evidence-Based Clinical Practice workshop series held regularly at King Saud University College of Medicine.
She has also been part of a number of international research teams associated with the Cochrane Collaboration, which holds the annual ‘Colloquia’ and is dedicated to helping health care providers, policy makers, patients and their advocates make well-informed decisions about health care, based on the best available research evidence.
The 19th Cochrane Colloquium: VI International Conference on Patient Safety will take place at the Palacio de Congresos de Madrid on October 19-22, 2011.
