The College of Food and Agriculture Sciences has organized a workshop on "The Breeding and Pruning of Grapes" at the Dirab Agricultural Experiment Station on Saturday, February 4.
The workshop will take place from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and shall include the following themes of discussion:
- Pruning and its objectives
- The art of cultivating grapevines
- Pruning tools
- Grapevine pruning systems, the short - medium – and long term
- Old methods vs. modern methods of grape breeding
- Practical applications
Saudi Arabia's most cultivated regions for grape production are Medinah and Tabouk, which in 2006 produced about 33.4 and 14.9% of the nation's total production, respectively.
At the conclusion of the workshop, certificates of participation will be given to attendees.
