King Saud University launched centers providing vaccines for the Coronavirus Covid 19 in response to the wise leadership's keenness, May God protect it, for the health of citizens and residents, and based on the societal contribution it undertakes to serve its students and employees, as it joined forces with the Ministry of Health and established three centers for it, the main center is in the lobby of the University City for Female Students and is equipped with 56 clinics, including 8 clinics for emergency cases, dedicated to serving students, employees and their families, with a capacity of 2,600 beneficiaries per day.
In addition to the King Khalid University Hospital Center of the University Medical City (Plaza), which is dedicated to the medical staff in the Medical City, with a capacity of up to 800 beneficiaries per day, and King Abdulaziz Hospital, which is designated for the medical staff and has a capacity of 600 beneficiaries per day.
The university offers the AstraZeneca vaccine, which has been approved by the Ministry of Health and has gone through many stages of trials to measure safety and efficacy, which is taken in two doses, approximately 3 months apart, according to the Ministry of Health's directives.
To ensure the speed and quality of work, the university established a special platform to register appointments to take vaccine doses, tahassan.ksu.edu.sa, through which the necessary information is recorded and the data of King Saud University community members who are covered by the vaccination service and their families are entered. Then fill out the questionnaire to verify the health information and warnings according to the directives of the Ministry of Health, and finally the date for obtaining the vaccine will be determined, and a text message with the barcode to confirm the appointment will be received. Note that data from who received the vaccine is recorded and linked to the Ministry of Health platform directly at the headquarters before the person leaves the vaccination center.
The three centers targeted many groups of university employees and their families, namely: students of the university, employees of the university from the academic and administrative bodies and their families (children, spouse, parents, domestic workers on his sponsorship, the family member residing in the dormitory), retirees and retirees and their families, as well as Men and women contractors. The center also began first to receive priority groups, according to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health.
The location of the main vaccination center in the University City for female students has been carefully chosen based on several criteria, the most important of which is ease of access, being on Prince Turki Al-Awal Street, parking capacity to avoid crowding, in addition to the place's capacity and ventilation, and ease of entry and exit especially for the elderly.
The Covid-19 Vaccination Center at the University receives affiliates and their families every day, from five in the afternoon until ten and a half in the evening. Note that it seeks to open the center to all citizens and residents in the future, to be one of the public vaccination centers affiliated with the Ministry of Health in Riyadh.
The university has worked on harnessing its administrative and medical staff specialized in the workflow to complete the process from registration to receiving the commission and leaving the center with the precautionary and preventive measures.
About 2,500 male and female volunteers from King Saud University also contributed to providing this experience professionally, as the center was fully operated by the efforts of university employees.
