HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Riyadh, attended King Saud University’s 54th graduation ceremony. The Governor was also accompanied by His Excellency the Minister of Education Azzam Al-Dakhil.

The ceremony was held in the main hall at the General Presidency of Youth Welfare (the Green Hall) in Riyadh. HRH Prince Faisal was received by KSU Rector Badran Al-Omar and the Vice-Rectors in addition to the College Deans.

Further, the ceremony was initiated by the graduate’s procession which was followed by a recitation of the Holy Qura’an then the Rector Al-Omar’s speech in which he welcomed HRH Prince Faisal and the audience.  He addressed to the Riyadh Governor, “It is my pleasure to welcome you to the University’s 54th Graduation Ceremony in which you share the joy of the graduates. This reflects how close you are from the students in addition to your continuous support. For this, the University; faculty, staff, graduates, and parents, thank you very much”.

Moreover, KSU Rector also mentioned that, “University has developed a number of programs and procedures by emulating successful international experiences. These developments transformed students into partners in learning, decision-making, idea generation, publishing, and entrepreneurship. They also changed the way students perceive themselves raising their self-awareness in addition to enhancing their awareness of the roles they are expected to play based on the opportunities that exist in the Kingdom and to which these students may contribute by hard work and determination. The University changed the student to make a difference in society, and to be precise, I say that the University has not only developed students’ abilities, but it has also re-designed what it means to be one through the existing awareness of our changing time and its complicated demands, in addition to the need to produce individuals equipped with up-to-date skills. The steps taken by the University are in accordance with its role in developing Riyadh and the Kingdom. The University will remain one of Riyadh’s supporters in everything aiming towards the development of the Kingdom, the implementation of its national mission, and its anticipated role in making a difference”.

In addition. Rector Al-Omar went on to congratulate the graduates asking Allah the Almighty to grant them success and he addressed them saying, “You are the future generation of our new Country; its trained aids. This is your country and no one will be faithful to it but you, therefore, prove to our leaders that you are up to the challenge and show your creativity and training. Be certain that your value is not measured by your graduation certificate, but by your ability to make use of it to make a difference. This is the true challenge, and through accepting it you achieve. Those who believe that success is merely finding a job need to ask themselves: How many employees are in the Kingdom? How many names are well-known? You need to be one of those names if you desire for yourself a life worth living.

At the end of his speech, the Rector Al-Omar thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, asking Allah to bless his life and his work, to continue His support and assistance, and to aid him with his Crown Prince and HRH the Deputy Crown Prince. He also thanked HRH the Governor of Riyadh for attending the ceremony which is only evidence of the continuous emphasis HRH places on the development of education.

Finally, the Rector also extended his thanks to those involved in planning and organizing the ceremony asking Allah to grant the graduates success and to enable them to make a difference with determination and hope.
