KSU Sleep Disorders Centre Holds Polysomnography Workshop at Dubai
University Sleep Disorders Centre in King Khalid University hospital, College of Medicine, King Saud University in cooperation with the National Plan for Science and Technology at KSU is going to be organized the thirteenth annual intensive Polysomnography course for sleep disorder technician from 6th - 9th December, 2015 in Dubai, United Arab of Emirates.
This course is designed to provide the participants with the knowledge and skills needed to perform all types of sleep studies. The participants of this program will be trained to:
Communicate and interact effectively with sleep disorders patients;
Physical and physiological aspects of sleep disorders;
Familiarity with the different sleep disorders;
Application of monitoring electrodes utilizing the 10-20 International system;
Know about other ancillary monitoring equipment, calibrate monitoring equipment, and utilize proper montage and protocol used during PSG studies;
Prepare the patient for testing and successfully perform PSG studies, to be familiar with EKG and EEG abnormalities;
Use of proper documentation and note taking;
Have a good understanding and be able to administer CPAP, BPAP, and Oxygen Therapy.
In addition, this course will be good exposure to the scoring and analyzing of sleep records. This is also targeted individuals interested in sleep medicine technology, sleep technicians and medical professionals.
The participants from inside and outside the Kingdom can attend this course. The center organizes these courses to assist -in keeping with the mission and goals – to contribute to reduce the gap and lack of technical and technologist of sleep disorders in Saudi Arabia and the entire region.
It is worth mentioning that University Sleep Disorders Centre just successfully ended its 12th session 4th - 7th May, 2015, which has been held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
