College of Computer and Information Sciences in KSU Earned Award for Best Arab Mobile Application in the Field of Learning Games
College of Computer and Information Sciences in KSU represented by (IWAN Research Group) earned an award for "Best Arab Mobile Application in the field of learning games" on "Faseeh" application at 3rd edition of ALECSO (Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization) Arab Mobile Apps Award in the city of Hammamet, Tunisia. The results were announced on November 4, 2017 in the final award ceremony, that was chaired by Dr. Saud Hilal Al-Harbi, Director-General of ALECSO, and Dr. Mohamed Anwar Maarouf, Tunisian Minister of Communication Technology and Digital Economy.
The app was qualified for the final round in this competition, in which 1760 applications from 19 Arab States were submitted, in mobile app development field. The Judging criteria included the app's innovation, services, content, interface, technology, and marketing. The award was received by Dr. Hend Suliman Al-Khalifa, Associate Professor- Information Technology Department at CCIS and founder and chairperson of IWAN Research Group,. This competition aims to encourage Arab youth to embrace excellence and innovation in ICTs in general, and in mobile applications in particular, as well as to develop Arab digital contents on mobile devices and encourage innovation and creativity in the fields of education, culture, sciences and learning games. The award winning app "Faseeh" is an educational game which targets youth Arabic speakers to enhance language skills.
Dr. Mansour A. Alzuair, Dean of CCIS, congratulated Dr. Al-Khalifa on this award and expressed pleasure and dignified pride for this achievement that adds to the achievements of CCIS in the field of computer science and information and the development of electronic applications to achieve KSU mission in building knowledge community and to be a world class university.
