"Safe Environment for Women Driving" at KSU

     King Saud University, represented by the Community Partnership Unit, inaugurated "a Safe Environment for Women Driving" event under the title (First Time), at the Female Student Campus, in the presence of Princess Noura bint Mohammed, the spouse of the Governor of Riyadh region.

     The Vice-Rector for Female Student Affairs, Dr. Einas Al-Eisa, thanked the sponsors and participants for their valuable contribution to this event that comes in response to the royal decree to allow women to drive, and the university’s role in spreading awareness about driving regulations and laws through a series of community-based initiatives and activities.

     The Director of the Community Partnership Unit and Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, Amal Al Hawwas, pointed out the importance of public and private sectors’ participation by providing awareness materials and interactive activities that contributed to the preparation for women driving. The event was also accompanied by a scientific program on the psychological and social readiness for women driving under the supervision of elite KSU faculty members

     Many government and private bodies have participated in this event including;  the General Department of Traffic, the Ministry of Transport, Riyadh Municipality, The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, General Authority for Statistics, the Supreme Authority for the Development of Riyadh City, the Saudi Traffic Safety Society, the Saudi Organization for Engineers and Insurance Companies, the Ophthalmology Center, KSU Colleges, automotive agencies , fuel companies, specialized medical centers, charitable associations, and productive families.

     The three-day event aimed to reinforce safe driving culture by offering an educational experience in an entertaining atmosphere for all family members. Visitors had the opportunity to gain knowledge on various women driving topics including; the rules of traffic, ways of obtaining driving license and getting driving training, car agencies, and insurance companies, and to attend dialogue sessions conducted by a group of KSU academics.
