Marathon in Female Campus on International Women's Day
KSU Movement Initiative in KSU Female Student Campus organized a 5K run/walk Marathon together with Riyadh Urban Runners and several female clubs to promote women's health. The Marathon coincides with this year’s International Women’s Day. The KSU Movement Initiative, in its 3rd year, consists on a weekly marathon for 12 weeks.
"The initiative, which was launched last year as the first initiative among Saudi university, aims to encourage running and walking for women to promote wellness by encouraging women to stay healthy and fit, promote a healthy lifestyle which correlate to a better academic achievement." Said the founders of the initiative Dr. Mezna Al-Marzoogi - Assistant Professor of Public Health – and Reem Al-Khamis - Lecturer The Clinical Laboratory Science Depart.
On a same note, Amal Maghazil – Captain of Riyadh Urban Runners – expressed her happiness to celebrate this day and join the marathon. She added “the open air large green spaces in the campus is convenient for walking/running"
Around 300 female Saudi, GCC, Arab and foreign runners participated in the marathon that day.
